Saturday night was an interesting night to sit in front of the television. Not only did you have the deranged spectacle that was Bare Knuckle FC 5 to watch, there was also an incident during the Hart Foundation’s induction into the WWE Hall of Fame that saw a deranged fan tackle Bret Hart in the ring.

Travis Browne, former UFC heavyweight and hubby of WrestleMania 35 headliner Ronda Rousey, was amongst the first to jump into the squared circle to pull the perp off Hart (see way more videos of the incident here).

But that’s not where the MMA connection ends, folks. It turns out the attacker — 26 year old Zach Madsen — is also an amateur MMA fighter. His record has him listed as a 6”2 welterweight who has gone 2-1 in Nebraska’s Dynasty Combat Sports promotion. His last fight was in March of 2018 and featured him losing via guillotine in the first round.

So if you don’t feel like you saw him getting his butt kicked enough by Browne and the several dozen pro wrestlers who swarmed him in the aftermath of his attack, here’s that losing performance from him:

Fightful notes that Madsen does indeed seem to be a big wrestling ‘fan,’ having worn a Jack Swagger shirt for his first amateur fight. He’s clearly doing it very wrong though. Like we asked last night, who attacks Bret Hart? Dude’s a legend and a cancer survivor.

Well, looking at Madsen’s Twitter account, it seems like drugs or mental issues may be in play. The guy left a trail of strange rambling tweets on his ‘road to WrestleMania’ that involved claims of staying up for days playing Tetris and other nonsense.

Unfortunately because Twitter is trashland, it’s hard to see where the line between your typical crappy social media user and actual dangerous nutbar lies. At least Bret Hart was not seriously hurt (although Madsen did allegedly get a punch in on the 61 year old) and his induction into the Hall of Fame continued without a hitch after dum-dum was removed from ringside.

As for Madsen? He’s been charged with two counts of assault and trespassing. Play stupid games, win stupid prizes.
