A shoulder injury to UFC middleweight Brian Stann (12-4) has forced ‘The All-American’ out of his upcoming fight with former Bellator champ Hector Lombard (31-2-1) in the headliner of the UFC on FOX 4 event.
MMAFighting.com confirmed with sources close to the fight that Stann’s injury is not serious enough to require surgery, but will keep him on the mend for up to two months.
No word from the Ultimate Fighting Championship has surfaced yet whether a new opponent would be found, or if Lombard would simply be pulled from the card.
UFC on FOX 4 (aka UFC on Fox: Stann vs. Lombard) is expected to take place on August 4, 2012 at Staples Center in Los Angeles, California. The main card will air on FOX television, while the rest of the card is expected to appear on FX or FUEL TV, and Facebook.
Stann won his fourth bout in five matches in his last Octagon appearance, stopping Alessio Sakara by first round knockout at the UFC: Sweden in April. The victory put Stann back into the win column after he was outwrestled, and ventually submitted, by current contender Chael Sonnen at UFC 136.
