Adrien Broner suffered more than just a decision loss in his return to boxing last night (Fri., June 7, 2024) at “Fists of Fury” from inside Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Hollywood, Fla., as the former world champion lost a tooth in the second round
Broner, 34, was competing for the first time in about a year. The former lightweight and welterweight titleholder was matched up against Blair Cobbs in the main event of the evening. While Broner is a shell of his former self the veteran boxer was still expected to give Cobbs trouble from the opening bell.
Unfortunately for Broner, he was fighting on borrowed time. The 41-fight veteran had little to offer Cobbs and simply couldn’t put much offense together. This allowed Cobbs to tune Broner up for all 10 rounds and cruise to a rather lopsided unanimous decision. It was one one of the more disappointing showings for “The Problem.”
Making matters worse for Broner was the fact that Cobbs knocked one of his teeth out in the second round after connecting on a massive left hook. Broner fell to the canvas and appeared to be searching for his missing tooth. It was eventually picked up off the floor as Broner returned to his feet to meet his eventual demise on the scorecards.
