Rising UFC bantamweight prospect Cody Stamann will look to continue his winning ways when he locks horns with veteran Bryan Caraway at UFC 222 on Mar. 3 live on pay-per-view (PPV) from inside T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada, per a report by the Las Vegas Review-Journal earlier this week.
Caraway, 33, hasn’t competed inside of the Octagon since defeating Aljamain Sterling via split decision back in May of 2016. The six-year UFC vet will be looking to capture his first three-fight win streak under UFC rule when he takes on Stamann in his return. If Caraway can defeat the young bantamweight and prove he’s capable of staying healthy, UFC may finally give him the divisional push he always seems to elude.
Stamann, 28, has produced a 2-0 divisional record since his Octagon debut last July. He’s coming off a split-decision win over highly-touted Frenchman Tom Duquesnoy back at UFC 216. The Michigan native is one of the better wrestling talents in the division and will try to prove just that against a dangerous grappler like Caraway. Another victory for Stamann should immediately launch him into the division’s top 15, if not the top 10.
UFC 222 will be headlined by a featherweight title fight pitting current champion Max Holloway against former lightweight king Frankie Edgar.
