A couple of lightweights will step into the Octagon in Manitoba this coming June when Canadian fighter Mitch ‘Danger Zone’ Clarke (9-2) takes on Englishman John ‘The One’ Maguire (18-5) at teh upcoming UFC 161: Barao vs. Wineland event.

Maguire will make his lightweight debut at the pay-per-view event, dropping down from welterweight for the match.

News of the bout was announced by The Canadian Press (@NeilDavidson) and re-tweeted by UFC Canada officials (@UFC_CA).

UFC 161: Barao vs. Wineland is expected to take place on on June 15, 2013 at the MTS Centre in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. The event will see UFC interim bantamweight champ Renan Barao defend his title versus former WEC champ Eddie Wineland.

Clarke, who hails from the neighboring Province of Saskatchewan, will compete in front of his fellow Canadians at the UFC 161 event and will look to capture his first win in the Octagon. ‘Danger Zone’ has fought twice for the UFC and has lost both matches. Most recently he was in action this past July at UFC 149 in Calgary losing the bout versus Anton Kuivanen by split decision. He debuted at UFC 140, suffering a second round TKO loss to John Cholish seeing his nine fight win streak end.

‘The One’ has also dropped his last two bouts with the top promotion, losing decisions to Matt Riddle at UFC 154 and to John Hathaway at UFC on FUEL TV 5. Unlike his upcoming opponent, Maguire has two wins inside the Octagon with victories against DaMarquest Johnson at UFC on FUEL TV 2 and over Justin Edwards at UFC 138. Those victories extended his win streak to six matches and included a “Submission of the Night” bonus for his win against Johnson.
