A couple of Canadian lightweights will meet inside the Octagon this November as Sam ‘Hands of Stone’ Stout (18-7-1) takes on John ‘The Bull’ Makdessi (9-2) as part of UFC 154.

News of the matchup was first announced by TSN.ca Friday evening.

UFC 154 is expected to occur on November 17, 2012 at the Bell Centre in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. The event will see a welterweight unification bout between champion Georges St-Pierre and interim title holder Carlos Condit.

Stout earned his fourth “Fight of the Night” bonus this past June after winning a unanimous decision against Spencer Fisher in their trilogy match, putting Stout ahead 2-1. The victory erased a decision loss to Thiago Tavares in January at UFC 142, to put Stout back on the winning track. His record over his last four matches is 3-1 which also includes a knockout of Yves Edwards at UFC 131 and a split decision win against Paul Taylor at UFC 121.

Makdessi is in a bit of a rough spot, with the possibility of facing a third straight Octagon loss should he lose to Stout. ‘The Bull’ lost a decision to Anthony Njokuani in April at UFC 145 in a 158-lbs catchweight bout after MakDessi failed to make weight. The Canadian was also involved in another catchweight match previous to that, a 158.5-lbs bout after opponent Dennis Hallman missed weight. The UFC 140 bout versus Hallman saw Makdessi suffer a first round submission loss. ‘The Bull’ had his last victory in April 2011, a spinning back fist knockout of Kyle Watson at UFC 129.
