Former Strikeforce fighter Chad ‘The Grave Digger’ Griggs (11-1), who recently signed with the Ultimate Fighting Championship, is set to make his promotional debut in Montreal this March when he faces undefeated fighter Travis ‘Hapa’ Browne (12-0-1).
The two will meet at UFC 145, which was announced this past week. News of the bout was announced at UFC.com on Saturday (Dec. 24, 2011) morning.
The UFC debut of former Strikeforce standout Chad Griggs is set, as he puts his six fight winning streak on the line at UFC 145 in March against unbeaten Travis Browne in a Montreal bout that has been verbally agreed to by both combatants.
UFC 145 is expected to take place on March 24 at the Bell Centre in Montreal, Quebec.
Griggs has won six straight since his only career loss back in April 2007 during an IFL event. ‘The Grave Digger’ had his last three fights under the Strikeforce banner, finishing Valentijn Overeem, Gianpiero Villante, and Bobby Lashley. All eleven of his wins have come via (T)KO or submission, with the two submission victories coming via tapout due to punches.
Browne holds a similar career, minus the loss and the addition of one draw to his record. Ten of Browne’s twelve victories have come by finishes with nine (T)KO wins and one submission (armbar). His last fight took place this past September against British fighter Rob Broughton at UFC 135 in Colorado. Browne took the fight by unanimous decision, going the distance for just the third time in his career. So far in the UFC Browne is 3-0-1.
