GSP Tweet - Eye 100%

Last weekend UFC welterweight champ Georges St-Pierre defended his title for a sixth straight time, earning a unanimous decision over Jake Shields in the main event of UFC 129 in Toronto, Ontario.

The French-Canadian did walk away with a worrisome eye injury though, having received an inadvertent eye poke in the second round. He was sent to the hospital immediately following the bout and has since offered fans updates on the status of the injury.

On Friday, St-Pierre Tweeted (@GeorgesStPierre) the above message that he expects his vision in his left eye to return to 100%, and also identified the medical condition in a second Tweet.

My medical condition is called Hyphema. My vision is still blurry and my eye sensitive but the blood in my eye has now been absorbed…

Hyphema is defined (by Wikipedia) as having blood in the front chamber of the eye, which is often caused by injury, in this case blunt trauma. Hyphema injuries may resolve itself over time, it may require medical treatment, or could result in permanent vision impairment.

From what GSP is tweeting, it appears that the injury isn’t that severe and that he’ll make a 100% recovery.
