A likely number one contender bout in the UFC featherweight division has been booked for this summer as ‘The Korean Zombie’ Chan Sung Jung (13-3) gets set to face Ricardo ‘The Bully’ Lamas (13-2) at UFC 162.
officials with the promotion announced the booking late Wednesday night.
UFC 162: Silva vs. Weidman is expected to take place on July 6, 2013 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. The event will see longtime UFC middleweight title holder Anderson Silva defend his belt against undefeated contender Chris Weidman.
Jung has won three straight and enters the bout following a knee injury which will have kept the South Korean fighter out of the cage for over a year between appearances. His last fight went down in May 2012 and saw ‘The Korean Zombie’ pick up a technical submission win over Dustin Poirier at UFC on FUEL TV 3 in a “Fight of the Year” match.
Lamas has won four-in-a-row himself with a recent win this past January by TKO over Erik Koch at UFC on FOX 6. Lamas remains undefeated at 145-lbs since moving down from lightweight. So far ‘The Bully’ has also picked up W’s against Hatsu Hioki, Cub Swanson and Matt Grice since moving over from the WEC.
