Former WWE superstar Phil “CM Punk” Brooks continues to fight battles outside of the Octagon.
While recovering from back surgery, Brooks appeared on a recent edition of “The MMA Hour” to discuss his plans for the remainder of 2016. While some believe he will never make his UFC – and MMA, for that matter – debut, the brash fighter begs to differ.
“I am going to fight. It’s going to be this year. I see the doctor (this week) and I am going to talk to him to see about other extracurricular activities that I can do to kind of speed this along.”
Punk is slated for a bout with Mickey Gall, who won his way into the UFC on the reality series “Lookin’ for a Fight.”
While not wanting to set an official date, having already competed inside Madison Square Garden during his pro wrestling days, Punk views that as a strong possibility for a “second fight.”
“In my mind, that card at the Garden would be a nice second fight, but I don’t know how realistic that is.”
As for those that doubt him, Punk fired off this comment:
“Don’t worry haters. I’m going to fight and it’s going to be (expletive) fun and awesome and you are going to be real upset. I just don’t want to say anything because I have learned my lesson. I have optimistic goals and we are just going to see if my back can cooperate.”
