The main card and “Prelims” portion of the upcoming UFC event on May 30th live on ESPN/ESPN+ from UFC APEX in Las Vegas, Nevada, has officially been set.
This is according to UFC president Dana White, who released the details to Octagon play-by-play announcer Jon Anik during a recent interview with ESPN MMA (shown above). White spoke about other topics as well, such as Jon Jones vs. Francis Ngannou and “Fight Island,” but the UFC’s upcoming card on May 30 took precedence.
As expected, former UFC welterweight champion Tyron Woodley will meet surging contender Gilbert Burns in the main event. This will be the first fight for “Chosen One” since losing his title to Kamaru Usman at UFC 235 in March of 2019. For Burns, this is his first UFC headliner and his fifth Octagon appearance since last April (the Brazilian is currently on a five-fight win streak).
In the co-main event, rising heavyweight prospect Augusto Sakai will put his three-fight UFC win streak on the line against veteran Blagoy Ivanov, who is coming off a split-decision loss to Derrick Lewis this past November. Fight fans will also get to see promising young talent like Mackenzie Dern, Kevin Holland, Brok Weaver, Klidson Abreu and “Alpha Ginger” Spike Carlyle scattered throughout the card.
