Carlos Condit has apparently decided to put his retirement plans on hold, as he currently targets a return late in the year.
In mid-April, former UFC interim welterweight champion Carlos Condit suffered his fourth straight loss, as Alex Oliveira prevailed via second-round submission. Right after the fight, the “Natural Born Killer” brought up the possibility of finally calling it quits after a nearly 16-year run.
“I don’t know what’s next guys,” the 36-year-old Condit wrote on Instagram. “I still love this game, and most days I still feel that fire, I absolutely love what I do, but maybe my time has passed. I don’t know the answer. this is what I know, this is my passion.”
“I will never stop training, and If that leads me back to the Octagon, you know I’ll try to make it bloody for ya.”
But after more than a month in the sidelines, Condit apparently had a change of heart. ESPN.com’s Brett Okamoto got in contact with the fighter’s management team, who revealed some future plans.
According to Condit’s representatives at First Round Management, Condit recently informed them he intends to fight again and wants to return in November or December. He did not mention a potential opponent.
Condit (30-12, with 28 wins by stoppage), last experienced victory in May 2015, when he finished Thiago Alves via second-round TKO.
