UFC featherweight champion Conor McGregor was voted “Best Fighter” during the ESPY Awards Wednesday night.
McGregor, who returns to action in August at UFC 202 vs. Nate Diaz, continued MMA’s run winning the award after Ronda Rousey claimed top honors last year in the fan-voted category. Prior to that, Floyd Mayweather, Jr. had won three straight and boxers had won the award every year since its inception in 2007.
Other finalists in the category included UFC welterweight champion Robbie Lawler, Gennady Golovkin, Canelo Alvarez and Roman Gonzalez.
Holly Holm also took home an ESPY, earning the “Best Upset” category for her victory over Ronda Rousey last year. Holm won the UFC female bantamweight title when she became the first person to defeat Rousey.
She was also up for the “Best Play,” which was her knockout of Rousey.
