Conor McGregor to return against Cole Miller at UFC Dublin

Conor McGregor will make it to Dublin after all. After undergoing surgery last August to repair a litany of injuries in his left knee, the Irish featherweight sensation is at long last scheduled to return to the Octagon against Cole Miller on July 19, 2014 at UFC Fight Night 46 — an event which marks the UFC’s first trip to Ireland since 2009.

A rivalry between the two featherweights has been brewing for some time, but on Wednesday UFC officials finally made it official.

While still early in his UFC career, McGregor (14-2) has already displayed vast star potential with his loquacious promos and impressive performances. The 25-year-old dismantled Marcus Brimage in his UFC debut, but suffered a complete ACL tear, MCL strain and posterior horn meniscal tear in his follow-up bout, a dominant unanimous decision win against Max Holloway at UFC Fight Night 26.

Mller (21-8) memorably called out “Colin McGoober” last October following a victory over Andy Ogle, and has been trading barbs across Twitter with the Irishman of late. A winner three of his past four fights, “Magrinho” earned his fourth ‘Submission of the Night’ bonus in his most recent outing against Sam Sicilia.

UFC Fight Night 46 takes place at The O2 in Dublin, Ireland. An updated fight card can be seen below.

  • Conor McGregor vs. Cole Miller
  • Ian McCall vs. Brad Pickett
  • Gunnar Nelson vs. Ryan LaFlare
  • Tom Lawlor vs. Ilir Latifi
  • Cody Donovan vs. Nikita Krylov
  • Neil Seery vs. Phil Harris
