Former UFC champion Daniel Cormier shared his celebrity boxing hot takes.
Over the weekend Jake Paul scooped headlines by knocking former NBA player Nate Robinson out cold in their boxing match underneath the big Mike Tyson vs. Roy Jones Jr. exhibition. The win moved Paul’s pro boxing record to 2-0.
The YouTuber, and younger brother of more popular YouTuber Logan Paul, made his ring debut last year, when he defeated another YouTuber under pro boxing rules. Since Saturday Paul has been taking a victory lap, claiming he might be the ‘next Mayweather’ and calling out former UFC champ-champ, and 0-1 boxer, Conor McGregor.
ESPN opinionator, and a former champ-champ himself, Daniel Cormier weighed in on the matter and announced that he believed longtime pro combat sport athlete McGregor would beat Paul should they ever meet in the boxing ring.
However, DC followed up that tepid take with something a little spicier.
“Jake Paul beats Dillon Danis,” announced Cormier on DC & Helwani. “Dillon does not need to fight Jake Paul, because he’ll get beat up.”

There’s history between the Paul family and Danis. Back when older brother Logan got into the celebrity boxing game in 2019, Danis—an accomplished BJJ black belt and MMA fighter contracted to Bellator—did his best to call out younger bro Jake. However, despite dozens of tweets neither Paul seemed to take much notice.
Danis took to social media yesterday to express his upset at Cormier picking Paul the Younger over him in a fight.

“Watch that fat mouth before I shut it.” penned Danis in a post accompanied by a badly photoshopped image.
Cormier offered a retort, via retweet, telling Danis to “sit your ass down before I call [Jake Paul] for you!”
Love him or hate we have likely not seen the last of Jake Paul in combat sports. It seems inevitable that Triller (promoters of Tyson vs. Jones Jr.) or someone else will look to bank in again with Paul.
Whether Danis gets to fill in the other half of a Paul pay-per-view spectacle remains to be seen.
Currently Danis is waiting to build on his 2-0 start to pro MMA. In his 2018 debut, at Bellator 198, Danis tapped Kyle Walker with toe hold. Last year, at Bellator 222, he submitted Max Humphrey by armbar.
