Daniel Cormier is already making good on his career after fighting, but the former UFC double champ is about to take things to a new level and make his move to television.

This is according to Gavin O’Connor, who directed the 2011 film Warrior which starred Hollywood actor Tom Hardy. O’Connor recently sat down with DiscussingFilm (h/t Awful Announcing) to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the film and revealed that “DC” will be cast in the upcoming TV series spin-off titled Warriors.

Cormer, who retired from UFC in 2020 and has been serving as color commentator for the promotion, is expected to have a prominent role in the series. Per O’Connor, who will direct and executive produce the upcoming TV spin-off, Cormier will play Bobby Watkins, a character who lives in Houston and is trying to bring his family out of poverty. Like the original movie, Cormier’s character will have to fight his way out of financial distress.

Details are scarce at this time, but the series will have no connection with Hardy’s 2011 film and is likely to be picked up by a streaming service (negotiations are ongoing).

Cormier, who seems to be making the most out of his post-fighting career, confirmed the news on social media earlier this week with a message for his fans and supporters.

“DC going to Hollywood baby!!! For all the support you guys have given me makes opportunities like this possible. This is only the beginning hopefully. Thank you,” wrote Cormier.

What do you think, Maniacs? Will Cormier transition well to the TV screen?
