Coronavirus continues to march its way across the upcoming UFC schedule (see it here), making a pit stop at the Aug. 1 event at UFC APEX in Las Vegas, Nevada. As a result, Viviane Araujo has been compromised and removed from Jennifer Maia fight.

“I don’t know how I caught it,” Araujo told MMA Junkie. “I was taking all precautions and training with only two fighters. They tested negative. Only I tested positive. That’s it. I was very sad that the fight was canceled and also worried for my health.”

Taking her place will be flyweight veteran Joanne Calderwood.

Calderwood (14-4) was originally expected to challenge Valentina Shevchenko for the flyweight title at some point this summer; however, “Bullet” was felled by a knee injury and forced to withdraw.

“JoJo” is currently waiting for her coronavirus test results.
