One of the greatest lightweight battles in mixed martial arts (MMA) history will unfold at UFC 223 on April 7 live on pay-per-view (PPV) from inside Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York, as current interim UFC champion Tony Ferguson puts his 10-fight win streak on the line against undefeated Russian sensation Khabib Nurmagomedov.
In preparation for one of the biggest fights of the year, UFC will be presenting “Countdown to UFC 223: Ferguson vs. Nurmagomedov’ this Sunday (April 1, 2018) on FOX Sports 1 starting at 10:00 p.m. ET, with replays airing throughout the week. The promotion released the following video preview via Twitter earlier this week:

In addition to Ferguson vs. Nurmagomedov, the one-hour special will also feature a behind-the-scenes look at UFC 223’s co-main event between women’s strawweight champion Rose Namajunas and former divisional queen Joanna Jedrzejczyk. It will be a rematch from their initially meeting UFC 217 this past November in New York City, in which “Thug” shocked the MMA universe by upsetting the undefeated Jedrzejczyk via first-round knockout.
Considering this is the fourth time that UFC has booked Ferguson vs. Nurmagomedov — each time the bout has fallen through for one reason or another — fight fans won’t want to miss the action when the main card unfolds next weekend live on PPV. The winner of the main event will not only walk away with the undisputed UFC lightweight title, but they’ll essentially lock down a future money fight with current 155-pound champion Conor McGregor.
