Former TUF 11 winner Court ‘The Crusher’ McGee (13-3) has opted to drop from middleweight to welterweight for his next bout and will take on Josh ‘The Dentist’ Neer (33-12-1) this February at UFC 157.
The news of McGee’s next fight was first announced by MMAFighting.com earlier today. No official announcement has been made by the UFC promotion as of yet.
UFC 157: Rousey vs. Carmouche is expected to take place on February 23, 2013 at the Honda Center in Anaheim, California and will feature the first women’s match in UFC history as women’s bantamweight champ Ronda Rousey takes on Liz Carmouche in the main event.
McGee has lost two straight and is 3-2 overall in the Octagon since winning season eleven of TUF back in June 2010. ‘The Crusher’ lost a decision to Nick Ring this past July in Calgary at UFC 149 while also losing a decision against Costa Philippou at UFC on FX 2. His last win came in September of last year at UFN 25 with a decision victory against Dongi Yang.
Neer has also dropped his last two fights having been choked unconscious in his last fight this past October, losing by first round submission to Justin Edwards at UFC on FX 5. The other loss came via knockout at the hands of Mike Pyle at UFC on FX 3 in June. Neer’s last win was a technical submission victory over Duane Ludwig at UFC on FX 1 in January.
