Colby Covington says he actually did talk to Dana White after the casino confrontation, wherein he set an ultimatum for the UFC to make a decision on his title shot.
Colby Covington was in Las Vegas for UFC 235 fight week, hoping to steal the show. He did barge in on Kamaru Usman’s open workout to throw some shade, and later went on to confront Dana White at the Palms Casino Resort while the UFC executive was at the blackjack table.
As seen on the video of his encounter with White, Covington was demanding an explanation about his title shot snub. White did not oblige at the time, but according to “Chaos” he did get to speak to the UFC president afterward.
As for how the conversation went, Covington said it wasn’t very smooth. But he did give White an ultimatum.
“I think it left on decent terms, not terrible terms,” Covington told Submission Radio. “I mean, he doesn’t like me, I don’t like him. We’re not gonna be shy about it. It is what it is. But I need to earn a living, man, I need to be able to do business and fight and make a living, put food on the table for my family.
“So whether it’s in the UFC or somewhere else, you know, I just told him he needs to make up his mind and he better have his mind made up by the end of the weekend.”
But if things don’t go his way, Covington also issued a threat, both to White and the UFC.
“The thing is, I’m such a powerful person, I know people in Vegas, I know people all around the world, so I will find out where you’re at,” Covington said. “And Uncle Fester, if you want to play games with me, I’ll find out, I’ll make your life a living hell.
“Last night was a fraction of what I can do. I’ll find you another time. I can keep doing this. So, if you don’t give me what I want, I’m just gonna create a living hell for you and the UFC.”
For the time being, Covington is a mere spectator of the upcoming welterweight title clash between Tyron Woodley and Kamaru Usman, which co-headlines UFC 235 on Saturday night.
