After Robbie Lawler came up short against Colby Covington in the main event of UFC on ESPN 5 last Saturday night (Aug. 3, 2019) in Newark, New Jersey, several fighters took to social media to react to Colby’s dominance.

Among them was current Light Heavyweight king, Jon Jones, who put out a simple tweet saying, “Robbie just let the whole world down,” accompanied by a sad emoji.

While the post wasn’t exactly overly-critical of Robbie’s performance — as it seemed to be related more to Jon being disappointed that Colby didn’t come up on the losing end due to their disdain toward one another — Covington still wasn’t pleased with Jon’s response.

“Jon Jones, he’s out there talking shit about Robbie Lawler letting the world down? Jon Jones knows firsthand about letting the whole world down,” Covington stated during a conversation with MMA Fighting.

“Don’t talk about Robbie Lawler, Jon Jones. Robbie Lawler’s not wrecking a Bentley with hookers in the back of his car. Robbie Lawler’s not hitting a pregnant lady and then fleeing the scene with all his drugs in the car. Robbie Lawler’s a legend, he’s a family man, he’s a first ballot Hall of Famer,” he added.

“So how dare Jon Jones talk about him when he’s the biggest piece of s*it in all of sports.”

Indeed, Colby and Jones don’t see eye-to-eye on pretty much anything, as the two have a beef stemming back from their college days. Colby’s verbal fire didn’t end there, as he also shut down Ben Askren for his post-fight comments, as well.

“Ben Askren, come on, man. What can you say? I’m breaking all the records except I’m never going to beat Ben Askren’s record for being knocked out in five seconds. The worst knockout in the history of the UFC.”

“He can’t talk because his career is dead so I don’t even know why Ben Askren is talking. He’s about to be 0-3 in the UFC after Demian Maia dusts him up and we won’t ever have to hear from that bum again.”

Askren is currently in talks to face Demian Maia later this year after suffering a record-setting five second knockout loss to Colby’s best friend, Jorge Masvidal at UFC 239. As for Colby, he is now in line to face Welterweight champion Kamaru Usman later this year.

Just be prepared to put up with all of the embarrassing trash talk leading up to the fight.
