After several failed attempts to make a title fight happen against current Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) women’s Bantamweight champion Amanda Nunes, Cris Cyborg is one against ramping up the campaign.

Cris took to Twitter to call out “Lioness” to a Featherweight championship scrap for the upcoming UFC 228 pay-per-view (PPV) event, which is set to go down on September 8, 2018 in Dallas, Texas.

For Cris, finally getting her hands on Nunes is a chance to settle the callout Amanda initially dished out. And after two previous destination sites came and went, Cyborg is itching to get back into the cage.

Cris was last seen knocking out Yana Kunitskaya at UFC 222 this past March, a late replacement title fight pegged to fill the void left behind by Max Holloway. As for Nunes, she defended her 135-pound title previously against Raquel Pennington at UFC 224 this past May.

A matchup between the two will pit the two most dominant female fighters in the game today. And since there are currently not contenders screaming at the top of their lungs to battle neither one for their straps, booking it now makes all the sense in the world.

For Nunes, defeating Cyborg will put her in some rather elite company, joining Conor McGregor and Daniel Cormier in the “champ champ” club.

UFC 228 currently features a featherweight scrap between Yair Rodriguez and Zabit Magomedsharipov. Furthermore, a women’s Strawweight bout between Jessica Andrade and Karolina Kowalkiewicz is slated to go down in “The Big D,” as well.
