MMA: UFC 232-Cyborg vs Nunes

Cyborg won’t say much about her future, but one thing she will say is that the UFC president is a liar.

On Saturday night in Edmonton Alberta at UFC 240, Cris Cyborg returns to take on upstart featherweight Felicia Spencer. But not much attention has been getting paid to the actual fight. Sure, Felicia is getting some press attention. And Cyborg is pulling lots of headlines. It’s just that most of hers have to do with her battle against Dana White, not Spencer.

White has been pillorying Cyborg in the media, accusing her of being afraid to rematch Amanda Nunes. Most see it as an attempt to devalue Cyborg as she heads into free agency after the Spencer bout. And while Cris hasn’t straight up said this, she has been taking a harder line with the UFC president and all his public comments.

”I’m just laughing at everything Dana is saying,” she said during an interview with MMA Junkie. “It’s all a lie. Everything is a lie. I just wait for Saturday and after this fight for sure we’re going to see. My team will talk to the UFC and will figure it out. And for sure it’s going to be the best opportunity for myself and do my best for me.”

”I always just speak the truth,” Cyborg said. “I never lie about anything. And just he’s always lying. I just keep to myself doing what I’m doing and doing what is right and then just keep it right and know the truth is going to come out. He’s doing this all my career. I just laugh when I see it. Just laughing.”

As for what’s next? She made it clear in another interview with The Mac Life that she wouldn’t say anything until after battling Felicia Spencer in the cage.

”I’m going to break it down after my next fight,” she said. “I’m focused for Saturday and I have nothing to say.”

As for what it’s like dealing with a boss that doesn’t seem to like you very much?

”I don’t need to connect with him, he’s not my friend or my family, it’s just business,” she said. “It’s just work. I always enjoy business because I love my job. It doesn’t matter, there’s a lot of people you have to work together, see the people every day even if you don’t like. It’s a job. Just keep going and do your business.”
