Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) lightweight champion, Khabib Nurmagomedov, must have taken a few cues from that north Atlantic iceberg when he jumped over the cage at UFC 229 to attack Conor McGregor’s jiu-jitsu coach, Dillon Danis, last October in Las Vegas.
That’s because “The Eagle” nearly sank Hollywood icon Leonardo DiCaprio, a frequent attendee at mixed martial arts (MMA) events, who was sitting near the “Sin City” Octagon when the shit hit the proverbial fan.
“He told me, ‘I was sitting five meters away, you nearly landed on me!’” Nurmagomedov said during his recent appearance on Match TV (via Business Insider).
Maybe that’s why Nevada State Athletic Commission (NSAC) levied such a hefty fine against Nurmagomedov, who will remain sidelined until November. McGregor, meanwhile, can return as early as April, assuming he wants to accept this fight.
Or even this one.
That said, “Notorious” can also opt to stay benched (while enjoying this new toy) and simply wait for Nurmagomedov to return, assuming they don’t run into one another in the streets between now and then.
