That according to Dan ‘Hendo’ Henderson (29-8) who reported the news during Thursday nights (Nov. 9, 2012) episode of MMA Uncensored Live.
The former Strikeforce light heavyweight champ will meet the former UFC title holder, Lyoto ‘The Dragon’ Machida, on Super Bowl weekend (Feb. 2, 2013) at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas, Nevada. The event will also feature a featherweight title bout between champ Jose Aldo and former lightweight champ Frankie Edgar.
Henderson was to have fought current title holder Jon Jones this past summer at UFC 151 but was forced out with a knee injury, leading to the cancellation of the event. Eventually, former champ Vitor Belfort would step up and face Jones at UFC 152.
‘Hendo’ is currently a four fight win streak and is 7-1, with a “Fight of the Night” victory over Mauricio ‘Shogun’ Rua as his last Octagon appearance at UFC 139.
Machida had been offered the shot at Jones after the Henderson injury but asked for more time to prepare. ‘The Dragon’ is 2-1 over his last three fights with a knockout victory over Ryan Bader this past August at UFC on FOX 4.
