Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) president Dana White teased a meeting between he and former champ-champ Conor McGregor a few weeks back, but now it seems like it’s finally going to happen.

According to the brash head honcho, he and “Notorious” will have a sit-down very soon to discuss his much-anticipated return to mixed martial art (MMA) following his loss to Khabib Nurmagomedov at UFC 229, which was followed by a suspension courtesy of Nevada State Athletic Commission (NSAC) due to this melee.

According to White, Conor could be returning as soon as this summer.

“He and I are getting together very soon, within the next week, and we’re going to figure out what’s next for him,” White told the ‘Jim Rome Show’ via MMA Weekly. “I see him fighting this summer.”

While there are several options for McGregor’s comeback bout, the one most people are eager to see is one pitting the fiery Irishman against fan-favorite Donald Cerrone. The two were briefly linked for a showdown a few months back, but talks fizzled due to this. Soon thereafter, “Cowboy” declared he’d given up trying to wrangle in “Notorious,” but was quick to call him out one more time following his win over Al Iaquinta at UFC on ESPN+ 9.

If you ask White, he says a fight between the two men makes all the sense in the world.

“The Cerrone fight makes sense,” White said. “There’s a couple different options out there for him. He was talking about the Cerrone fight at one point. I don’t really know but that fight makes sense.”

Indeed, there is always the possibility that the promotion books McGregor to take on Tony Ferguson, who recently announced his own return following meetings with the UFC brass in “Sin City.”

The only fight that isn’t on the table for Conor at the moment is a rematch with Khabib, as “The Eagle” is set to face interim title holder Dustin Poirier in a title unification match at UFC 242 in September in Abu Dhabi.

That said, if Conor doesn’t get Cerrone or Ferguson, who else makes sense?
