With Nate Diaz taking the UFC 196 main event against Conor McGregor on short-notice, there has been a lot of talk regarding the Stockton native potentially being out-of-shape for arguably the biggest fight of his career. According to UFC President Dana White, however, that couldn’t be further from the truth.

In addition to taking the fight on short notice, Diaz sat idle while McGregor claimed he had to agree to fight Diaz at 170 pounds because the former TUF Champion refused to accept a bout with him at 155 pounds, 160 pounds and 165 pounds.

While all of this would point to Diaz being out-of-shape, the UFC President explained to L.A. Today why that is absolutely not the case.

“Nate Diaz has been training for a triathlon,” White revealed to the Los Angeles, California-based media outlet (via FOXSports.com). “Nate Diaz is in phenomenal shape right now. So he’s not coming in out of shape. He’s in phenomenal shape right now.”

Headlined by the McGregor-Diaz bout and featuring the UFC Women’s Bantamweight Championship fight between Holly Holm and Miesha Tate, UFC 196 takes place on Saturday, March 5th from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.
