The UFC president is not opposed to having Jose Aldo drop to bantamweight and take on Henry Cejudo.
UFC president Dana White is on board with Jose Aldo’s most recent idea of dropping to the bantamweight division and taking on champion Henry Cejudo in a superfight. In an interview with Combate, White expressed interest in seeeing how the Brazilian would against the double champion.
Although Aldo has struggled with weight cuts in the past even at featherweight and never having to cut weight beyond 145 pounds, Dana has faith that Jose would not disappoint should the drop ever becomes true, claiming that the former champion would look good in any division.
“Aldo texted me and I told him I didn’t know, that we would see. We still don’t know what to do with those divisions. As soon as we do, we’ll tell him. I like Jose Aldo anywhere, in any weight class.”
In his last outing, Jose Aldo (28-5) dropped an unanimous decision to Alexander Volkanovski, back in May. Before the loss, the 32-year-old was on a two-fight winning streak, with TKO wins over the likes of Renato Moicano and Jeremy Stephens.
As for Henry Cejudo, the ‘Messenger’ has no fights lined up after TKO’ing Marlon Moraes back in June, extending his current win streak to five victories in a row, beating notable names such as T.J. Dillashaw, Demetrious Johnson, Sergio Pettis and WIlson Reis. He has not lost a fight since dropping a split decision to Joseph Benavidez in December 2016.
