UFC president Dana White appeared on TMZ Sports for a special interview Thursday to address Jon Jones and his recent stint in jail.
Jones was released earlier in the day after accepting new provisions to his probation, which was handed down last year after a hit-and-run incident. The UFC stripped Jones of his light heavyweight title at that time and suspended him, but they will allow “Bones” to face Daniel Cormier for the belt next month at UFC 197.
Last week, Jones was stopped by Albuquerque police and issued five tickets. The stop was recorded and released, showing Jones calling the police officer a “pig” and “(expletive) liar.”
“I don’t think Jon Jones is ever going to be the Jon Jones that people expect him to be,” White said. “Jon is gonna do Jon. I think that Jon tried so hard to play the good guy for so long, it drove him crazy.
“And Jon is just gonna be Jon now.”
White, who admitted that he is the “most polite human being” when he gets pulled over, added that he has yet to talk with Jones since the incident happened.
