Dana White shot down Conor McGregor WWE rumors by showing texts from Vince McMahon

UFC president Dana White used the most direct way possible to blow up a recent rumor about lightweight champion Conor McGregor.

Earlier this week, a UK tabloid put it out there that UFC lightweight champion Conor McGregor was “close” to a deal with WWE, and could be at the next WrestleMania in April. These rumors about Conor and pro wrestling have come and gone for a couple of years now, but this one had enough steam that UFC president Dana White was asked about it.

So he showed his texts from WWE chairman Vince McMahon to shoot the rumor down in flames.

While appearing on the Good Day New York show, White stated that the rumors were “absolutely not true”, then said he had just texted with McMahon a few minutes ago. The host of the show asked to see them, so Dana showed her.

When asked about it, McMahon responded “News to me” and followed up with “It might be good someday but not now”.

McGregor, who likely made over 100 million dollars for his boxing match with Floyd Mayweather Jr. in August, is still making a decision on what he’s going to do next. New interim champ Tony Ferguson has called him out, but it seems like Nate Diaz may be the frontrunner for McGregor’s UFC comeback fight, which will likely be in early 2018. Then again, McGregor did hint at a Ferguson fight earlier today, so who knows.
