Call it a bluff or smoke-screen, but UFC president Dana White continues to state that Georges St-Pierre has no interest in returning to MMA.
White, appearing on “UFC Tonight” Wednesday, was once again asked about the former UFC welterweight champion returning to the Octagon. He also clarified rumors that GSP could face Anderson Silva in the main event of UFC 206, telling Daniel Cormier that his title defense vs. Anthony Johnson is the headline act.
“You guys know. When you’re someone who wants to fight, as an example, Cormier called me. Cormier was chomping on the bit while I was working over whether Johnson and Jones would fight. I was trying to build a bigger fight. Cormier said ‘I don’t love it.’ He’s calling me asking me for the fight. That’s the mentality of the fighter. If Ronda (Rousey) says she wants to take the time off, I say take as much as you need. You’ve got to have it here. GSP hasn’t had it here for a long time. I know guys that want to fight. He’s not one of them.”
St-Pierre has talked about a return to fighting, but has also stated his concern over the Reebok deal with the UFC as a stalling point.
