Floyd Mayweather in the UFC? It couldn’t happen… could it?

If you want to see Floyd Mayweather Jr. make his way into the UFC, it may very well happen.

UFC president Dana White confirmed to ESPN’s Brett Okamoto that discussions have been made about the retired boxing superstar venturing into the Octagon.

“We’re talking to Floyd about doing a UFC deal,” White told ESPN. “It’s real. He was talking about [boxing] Conor McGregor. Was that real? Have you heard Floyd talk about many things that aren’t real? He usually tips his hand when he’s in the media, and then that s— ends up happening.

“We’re interested in doing something with Floyd. Everything is a realistic possibility. Mayweather vs. McGregor f—ing happened. Anything is possible.”

Last week, Mayweather suggested that he could do a multi-fight UFC deal and make a billion dollars. It was only three months ago that he defeated UFC lightweight champion Conor McGregor by 10th round TKO in the richest fight in combat sports history. The pay-per-view drew north of four million domestic buys and was the second-biggest gate of all-time.

If this is serious, then imaginations will run wild as to whom Mayweather will face (if he fights at all). Would they dare book Mayweather vs. McGregor under MMA rules? Would that fight even be sanctioned? There is one UFC champion who is interested in bulking up and having his shot against Mayweather (50-0, 27 KOs), and that’s #1 pound-for-pound fighter Demetrious Johnson.

Yes, this is real life.
