Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) light heavyweight champion Daniel Cormier, who also serves as UFC on FOX analyst and UFC color commentator, either hates being home or really loves amateur wrestling.

The UFC 226 headliner was recently named head coach of the Gilroy High School wrestling team in Northern California’s Santa Clara County, where “DC” lives with his wife Salina and their two children.

Hey, let’s ask Brendan Schaub why “DC” got the job!

“This opportunity is huge for me,” Cormier told MMAFighting.com. “Wrestling has been the foundation for everything I’ve done. I’m excited to coach a great team in Gilroy and excited to give back to the town that has accepted me and my family so openly.”

Cormier, part of the 2008 Olympic wrestling squad, will not be paid for his services and will instead give his stipend to his assistant coaches.

On top of all his other assignments, Cormier (20-1, 1 NC) must also prepare to throw hands with reigning heavyweight champion Stipe Miocic, who meets “DC” in the UFC 226 headliner this July in Las Vegas, Nevada, completing their gentlemanly rivalry on The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) 27.
