For now, Daniel Cormier is moving on from Jon Jones.
Cormier, the reigning UFC light heavyweight champion, confirmed on “UFC Tonight” Wednesday that his next title defense will come against the winner of the upcoming Glover Teixeira-Anthony Johnson bout.
Earlier this month, “DC” was set to face off against Jones at UFC 200 in a rematch of their 2015 contest. However, “Bones” was removed from the card after failing a pre-fight drug test.
“I’m going to fight the winner of Teixeira vs. Johnson,” Cormier said. “I don’t care if Jon Jones comes back. I’m not going to reward him.”
Cormier won the vacant belt last year after the UFC stripped Jones for an out-of-the-Octagon matter with a submission of “Rumble.” He defended it successfully vs. Alexander Gustafsson and bested Anderson Silva in a non-title fight at UFC 200.
