Hitting the Octagon in Australia was an emotional moment for Daniel Kelly.
The former Olympian in Judo picked up a win over Chris Camozzi in the prelim main event of UFC Fight Night 101 Saturday night.
But the moment was one Kelly enjoyed a little more this time around – despite taking some extreme punishment.
“He was harder to take down than I thought he would be but I am happy with my performance,” he told UFC.com “I’m really happy with my stand up. I think I beat him in the stand up and he is a very accomplished stand up fighter, so I am really happy with that result. I do need to learn how to defend elbows better.”
Kelly has won five of his UFC fights and is 12-1 overall in his career. Prior to MMA, he competed in four consecutive Summer Olympics for Australia, placing as high as seventh.
