Ultimate Fighting Championship officials added a lightweight bout to the rapidly filling UFC on FOX: Diaz vs. Miller card as Danny ‘Last Call’ Castillo (13-4) and John Cholish (8-1) have verbally agreed to meet at the New Jersey event.
Promotion officials announced the bout Tuesday evening at UFC.com.
Verbal agreements are in for a lightweight matchup between New Jersey’s own John Cholish and Danny “Last Call” Castillo May 5. Both men are coming off of December wins – Cholish scored a TKO of Mitch Clarke at UFC 140; Castillo took a late-replacement gig and earned the split decision over Anthony Njokuani at UFC 141.
UFC on Fox: Diaz vs. Miller (aka UFC on Fox 3) is expected to take place on May 5, 2012 at the IZOD Center in East Rutherford, New Jersey with a headlining bout featuring lightweights Nate Diaz vs. Jim Miller.
Castillo was last in action in December, earning an unpopular split decision over Anthony Njokuani at UFC 141 in Las Vegas. That was the second victory in a row for ‘Last Call’ who stopped Shamar Bailey at UFC 139 in a 158-lbs catchweight bout at UFC 139, after Bailey failed to make weight. Castillo is now 4-1 in the Octagon after a 5-3 run with the WEC.
Cholish debuted with the UFC in December, earning a second round TKO victory over Mitch Clarke in the second round of their UFC 140 bout. The win made it eight straight for the Renzo Gracie Jiu-Jitsu fighter who owns three wins by (T)KO, four via submission and one by decision. Cholish appeared on last March’s Strikeforce: Fedor vs. Silva card, defeating Marc Stevens with a kneebar in the second round.
