Dear critics: Bigfoot Silva wants you to f–k off, offers to beat your ass at his gym in Florida

First rule of Fight Club? Do NOT talk about Antonio Silva.

That’s unfortunate, because there’s a lot to say in the wake of his 16-second knockout loss to Stefan Struve last weekend in the UFC Fight Night 87 co-main event (watch it). And from most of the comments I fabricated to fortify this already flimsy story, the current narrative is more about safety than punchlines.

The Brazilian is just 1-5-1 dating back to 2013 and has been knocked out in all five of those losses.

But hey, fighters have feelings too, so choose your words carefully. If not, please Uber yourself to the American Top Team (ATT) gym in Coconut Creek, Florida, and remember to bring your mouthpiece.

Silva erupts on Instagram:

“Many people think that because we are famous, we don’t have feelings or that we don’t want to answer some people sometimes. I’ll be very straight to the point with some shitty Brazilians. This is why our country is deep in misery. This is why we don’t have education and culture, but this anti-patriotism instead. All of you who envy me are people who weren’t able to achieve your goals, and find it easier to sit on your ass and talk about other people on the internet. People who work hard through pain, exhaustion and many times overcome illnesses to conquer they success. I just want all you of who talk about me to fuck off. Go sit on a giant manioc and if you get offended or as mad as you get in front of the computer, I train at American Top Team from Monday to Saturday ‘5750 FL-7 -€” Coconut Creek, Florida, 33073′, that’s the address. Just show up, but don’t forget your mouthpiece, gloves and shin guards. Thank you from the bottom of my heart to everyone who do recognize the work of a professional and I apologize for being rude. An athlete is not made of only wins, nobody wants to lose, but sometimes we make one plan and God makes another.”

Any volunteers? If so, please wear a GoPro cam so we can all laugh at your misfortune.

Silva has been competing in mixed martial arts (MMA) since early 2005. I would reckon his upset win over Fedor Emelianenko under the Strikeforce banner would be the highlight of his career; however, “Bigfoot” has also seen his share of lowlights.

More than once.

How much gas the Brazilian has left in the tank (he turns 37 in September) remains to be seen, but with increased scrutiny over CTE, I’m not sure how eager the stateside athletic commissions will be to rubber stamp his fight license without increased medical testing.
