Demetrious Johnson vs. Kyoji Horiguchi replaces Rory MacDonald vs. Hector Lombard at UFC 186

UFC 186 lost arguably its most interesting fight, but it also gained another title fight.

Demetrious Johnson vs. Kyoji Horiguchi for the UFC flyweight title is the new co-main event, as Rory MacDonald vs. Hector Lombard has been removed from the card, according to The Canadian Press. No reason was given for the MacDonald-Lombard cancellation.

UFC 186, headlined by T.J. Dillashaw vs. Renan Barao 2 for the bantamweight title, is set for April 25 at Montreal’s Bell Centre.

Horiguchi (15-1) has won his last nine fights in a row, including four straight in the UFC. The 24-year-old Japanese fighter, who is a protégé of KID Yamamoto, most recently defeated Louis Gaudinot at UFC 182 via unanimous decision.

Johnson (21-2-1), the only flyweight champion in UFC history, is unbeaten in his last eight fights, submitting Chris Cariaso in his last bout back in September.

Others notable fights scheduled for UFC 186 include Quinton Jackson vs. Fabio Maldonado, Michael Bisping vs. C.B. Dollaway and Patrick Cote vs. Joe Riggs. No word just yet on what’s next for either MacDonald or Lombard.

Also, according to the same report, TUF Nations winner Chad Laprise vs. Bryan Barberena has also been added to the card.
