Since losing back-to-back fights to Ricardo Lamas and Jeremy Stephens from 2014-2015, powerful Featherweight Dennis Bermudez has been trying to prove he’s still a contender. In an important divisional tilt against Brazilian Rony Jason — who was making his first U.S. appearance of his career — last night (Aug. 6, 2016) at UFC Fight Night 92 inside Vivint Smart Home Arena in Salt Lake City, Utah, “The Menace” had the opportunity to further close the gap between him and the 145-pound elite.
After bloodying Jason in round one with vicious ground-and-pound, Bermudez continued to pressure the Brazilian, slam him with powerful body shots and control him with world-class wrestling. Jason offered little answers along the way as Bermudez essentially cruised to a unanimous decision victory.

Bermudez begins a win streak he’ll need to regain his footing at 145 pounds. Jason isn’t the biggest name in the division, but he’s one of the more explosive finishers. Bermudez did what was needed to be done, leaves Utah victorious and may have just locked down a future match up with Cub Swanson.
