Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) somethingweight Nate Diaz is being rich riding the pine until his inevitable Conor McGregor rematch, because any fight besides “Notorious” will not be as lucrative.

And a loss to a lesser opponent (like this one) would jeopardize any hope of a rubber match.

That said, longtime teammate and former UFC welterweight Jake Shields believes Diaz would return to action for the right price, meaning money — and not McGregor — is the motivating factor.

“He’s not just looking for Conor,” Shields told The MMA Hour. “He’s looking for a fight that makes sense and that’s going to give him a big payday and a lot of hype.”

Who else besides the Irishman is worth $30 million?

Diaz submitted McGregor when they first went to war at UFC 196 in early 2016. “Notorious” was able to get one back — by way of close decision — at their record-breaking UFC 202 rematch later that year.

McGregor went on to capture the lightweight crown before transitioning to the “sweet science,” then returned at UFC 223 to upset the transport bus by way of technical knockout (police stoppage). As for Diaz, he’s likely off somewhere enjoying his Tequila.

Stay thirsty, my friends.
