After putting out a less than spectacular fight poster for Conor McGregor’s long-awaited return to the Octagon this month at UFC 246 against Donald Cerrone, the promotion may have just redeemed itself after releasing the official artwork for UFC 247, which is set to go down on Feb. 8 live on ESPN+ PPV from inside Toyota Center in Houston, Texas.
Leading the pack is a light heavyweight title fight between current champion and all-time great Jon Jones and undefeated contender Dominick Reyes. This is a massive fight for both men, as Jones tries to clear out the 205-pound division before making a jump to heavyweight and Reyes aims to turn the MMA world on its head en route to claiming UFC gold.
Adding to the mix will be a women’s flyweight title fight between current champion Valentina Shevchenko and surging striker Katlyn Chookagian. Shevchenko is the odds on favorite to retain her belt after winning her first four bouts at 125 pounds, including three title fight wins and a decisive victory over Joanna Jedrzejczyk. As for Chookagian, she’ll bring a 6-2 promotional record into the cage as she tries to score one of the biggest upsets of 2020.
Additional matchups not shown on the above UFC 247 fight poster includes a heavyweight clash between Derrick Lewis and Ilir Latifi, a bantamweight affair pitting Jimmie Rivera against the red-hot Marlon Vera, and a featherweight affair featuring battle-tested brawlers Mirsad Bektic and Dan Ige.
What say you, Maniacs? Does this UFC 247 fight poster make up for the lackluster artwork for McGregor vs. Cerrone?
