Former The Ultimate Fighter season one winner Diego ‘The Dream’ Sanchez (24-5) says he’s competing at this August’s upcoming UFC 164 pay-per-view event.
Sanchez revealed the news to MMAJunkie.com on Tuesday but did not identify an opponent for the event.
“I talked to (UFC matchmaker) Joe Silva yesterday, and he penciled me in for Aug. 31,” Sanchez said. “We’re looking at opponents. I did like I always do and said, ‘Look, you’re the man, Joe. You’re the one who makes all these big matchups. And I’m, in my opinion, in the most stacked division in the UFC, and there are plenty of great fights out there, and you’ll hook me up with a good scrap.’”
UFC 164 is expected to take place on August 31, 2013 at the Bradley Center in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
Sanchez won a recent split decision in over Takanori Gomi in March at the UFC on FUEL TV: Silva vs. Stann event in Japan. The victory put ‘The Dream’ back on the winning track after a decision loss to Jake Ellenberger. That loss, along with two prior decision victories also garnered Sanchez three straight “Fight of the Night” bonuses.
