Diego Sanchez makes his return to the Octagon next month, and it’ll be at welterweight.

Diego Sanchez isn’t done fighting just yet.

The first-ever winner of The Ultimate Fighter, who is perhaps fittingly the only one from TUF 1 to remain on the UFC roster, will face Craig White at UFC 228 in Dallas. MMAjunkie reported the news on Thursday.

Sanchez (27-11) is on a two-fight losing streak, having been brutally knocked out by both Al Iaquinta and Matt Brown in 2017. Known for his insane toughness and chin, Sanchez has been finished by strikes in three of his last four fights. His most recent win was a unanimous decision over Marcin Held, in what was mostly a grappling battle.

White (14-8) made his UFC debut on short notice in May, losing to Neil Magny by first-round knockout in the UFC Liverpool co-main event. “The Thundercat” has finished his opponents in all 14 of his wins, with nine of them via submission, although he has been stopped in seven of his eight losses. He formerly competed at middleweight before dropping to welterweight, winning four straight bouts under the Cage Warriors FC banner.

UFC 228 takes place at the American Airlines Center in Dallas, Texas on Saturday, September 8th. The main event features welterweight champion Tyron Woodley against Darren Till, while women’s flyweight champ Nicco Montano puts her belt on the line against Valentina Shevchenko.
