Alexander Hernandez and Drew Dober faced each other in a Lightweight clash tonight (Wed., May 13, 2020) at UFC Jacksonville, which took place inside Vystar Veterans Memorial Arena in Jacksonville, Florida. In a fun fight, Dober stopped his opponent late in the second.
Hernandez opened the bout with a kick. Dober ate a body kick, returned low. Dober connected clean on a hard cross. Solid body kick from Hernandez. Another body kick scored for “The Great.” Hernandez changed levels into a single leg and put his foe on the mat. Dober quickly wall-walked back up. Both men land on the break. More body kicks connected for Hernandez. Dober landed a cracking left hand. Switch jab stung Dober. Jab scored for Dober. Hernandez entered on a strong shot, but Dober managed to deny the takedown. Hernandez’s footwork denied Dober many of his combinations. Two hard hooks and a cross scored for Dober. Body kick returned from Hernandez, followed by a jab.
Eye poke stops the fight just before the end of the first. One more eye poke at the start of the second!
Upon restart, Dober landed a combo but ate a cross counter. Another left hand connected for Dober, who was really pushing the pace. Another deep takedown attempt stuffed by Dober. Solid body kick from Hernandez, followed by a jab. Dober punched the mid-section, ate a counter. Good left hand from Dober. Another. Dober ripped a hook to the body then kicked the leg. Body kick scored for Hernandez, but he was stuck on the fence. Left hook scored for Hernandez. Body-head combination from Dober briefly dropped his opponent. Dober swarmed, but Hernandez was able to counter with a double leg into the guard. Dober escaped back to his feet, absorbed an uppercut. Dober continued flurrying with hooks, hurting his foe once again. Hernandez landed another momentary double leg, but it wasn’t enough to stop the onslaught, as Dober got right back up and kept landing.
Dober’s resurgence continued! He’s now won six of his last seven, showing a ton of improvement over the last couple years.
