Dominick CruzUFC bantamweight champion Dominick Cruz (17-1) really wants to meet Urijah Faber in the octagon, he’s even willing to put off surgery for his hand to do it.

Faber has been the only opponent to beat Cruz in 18 professional fights. Both met at WEC 26 in March of 2007 in a WEC featherweight title bout in which Faber pulled off a first round guillotine choke submission defending his belt. Two fights later Cruz would drop to bantamweight and he’s been on a tear since then winning six straight.

Both Cruz’ and Faber’s names have been thrown around as possible coaches for the upcoming season of “The Ultimate Fighter” which would suite Cruz just fine.

“I definitely want that fight. It’s something I’ll take in stride. I prefer to have that fight fighting for ‘The Ultimate Fighter’ as a coach, that’s something I was really going for. It’s pretty much up to the UFC. My job is to fight and to fight the best guys in the world, and I feel like beating Urijah is just a way to solidify that for myself…I’m still talking to my coaches about (The Ultimate Fighter) and we’ve got to see who’s going to be next on the roster. I just got back from out of town today so this week we should sit down and probably get into that stuff for sure.”
