Sorry “Cowboy,” but no dream fight for you.
Former Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) lightweight contender Donald Cerrone will return to mixed martial arts (MMA) action on June 18, 2016, when he battles longtime combat sports veteran Patrick Cote inside a venue to be determined in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada.
MMA Fighting reported the bout earlier today.
Cerrone (29-7, 1 NC) made his 170-pound debut just last month, strangling Alex Oliveira in the main event of UFC Fight Night 83 in Pittsburgh. Cote (23-9), meanwhile, is the winner of three straight, recently beating the brakes off Ben Saunders in Boston.
“Cowboy” vs. “Predator” … who ya’ got?
UFC Fight Night 89 will air on FOX Sports 1 and is expected to be headlined by the welterweight contender fight pitting Rory MacDonald against Stephen Thompson, with a potential title shot on the line for the 170-pound “Wonderboy.”
