The Bellator welterweight title will be at stake on June 11th.

After a failed attempt to become a double champion, Bellator welterweight champion Douglas Lima will return to his familiar weight class in June.

The Brazilian striker is set to face undefeated Ukrainian Yaroslav Amosov in the main event of Bellator 260 on June 11th at the Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Connecticut. It’ll be Lima’s first title defense since 2019 and Amosov’s first title fight.

Lima (32-8) challenged Gegard Mousasi for the vacant middleweight title last year, losing a rather lackluster unanimous decision in the Bellator 250 main event. He has won the welterweight belt three times, most recently avenging a prior title defeat to Rory MacDonald by winning the rematch in the Grand Prix final. Lima’s highlight-reel moments include a leg kick demolition of Rick Hawn, two finishes of Andrey Koreshkov, and a brutal KO of Michael Page.

Amosov (25-0) is coming off a split decision win over Logan Storley, who was also unbeaten at the time of their bout. The 27-year-old began his Bellator career with consecutive decisions over Gerald Harris and Erick Silva before submitting David Rickels. As part of his three-fight 2020 slate, Amosov got the better of former NCAA wrestling standout Ed Ruth by decision.

Additionally, the promotion announced Tywan Claxton vs. Justin Gonzales and Nick Newell vs. Bobby King as preliminary card fights. The main card, as is the case for all Bellator shows for the foreseeable future, will be televised on Showtime.
