If you were planning on Alex Pereira successfully defending his UFC light heavyweight title against Jamahal Hill later tonight (Sat., April 13, 2024) at UFC 300 live on ESPN+ PPV from inside T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada, you might go to bed disappointed. That’s because millionaire rapper, Drake, just cursed another UFC event by placing a massive wager on “Poatan” to defeat “Sweet Dreams” in the main event.
These Drake bets have become a talking point whenever UFC hosts a major event. While it’s cool to see such a popular celebrity like Drake taking part in UFC events and putting his combat knowledge to the test, the Canadian-rapper has a knack for cursing the fighter he picks to win. This has happened on more than one occasion. Sometimes Drake gets it right, but he’s usually way off with his lucrative predictions.
For UFC 300, Drake is going all in on the main event and siding with Pereira to defend his UFC light heavyweight title for the very first time. Pereira is a small betting favorite to take care of business and spoil Hill’s Octagon return, but nobody is looking at this main event scrap as a landslide for “Poatan.” Drake, however, is sold on Pereira walking away with his title atop the biggest card of all time.
On Friday, Drake put his money where his mouth is and placed an official $675,000 wager on Pereira to defeat Hill. That’s a massive bet to say the least and one that offers a $1.2 million payout. It’s life-changing money for most of us, but this is just play-around cash for the superstar musician.
