Will Frankie Edgar ever get to make his Bantamweight debut?

Frankie Edgar’s bantamweight debut has once again been delayed as his fight against Pedro Munhoz has been taken off the UFC 252 pay-per-view (PPV) event on Aug. 15, and will now headline the Fight Night event the following week on Aug. 22.

According to MMA Fighting, no reason for the move was given.

The bout was initially set to go down at UFC 251 on July 11, 2020 on “Fight Island” before it was moved to UFC on ESPN 13 a few days later. The bout was then ultimately scratched after Munhoz tested positive for COVID-19.

A few days later it was revealed that the 135-pound showdown would now take place on Aug. 15 in Las Vegas, Nevada, bringing us to present date with the fight moved for the third time. Edgar is looking to snap a two-fight skid while Munhoz is looking to get back in the win column after losing to Aljamain Sterling in his last outing.

If you recall, Edgar was originally set to make his bantamweight debut against Cory Sandhagen this past January before he was yanked from the fight to face Chan Sung Jung in South Korea in a Featherweight bout.

UFC 252 will feature a trilogy title fight between heavyweight champion, Stipe Miocic, taking on former UFC champ-champ, Daniel Cormier. Meanwhile, the Fight Night event on Aug. 22 — which will also take place inside APEX facility in “Sin City” — will also feature Angela Hill taking on Michelle Waterson.
