Leon Edwards sent fellow UFC welterweight contender Jorge Masvidal a message following their post-fight altercation last weekend in London.
It seems as if the Jorge Masvidal-Leon Edwards feud did not end Saturday.
Masvidal and Edwards were involved in an altercation backstage at The O2 Arena after their respective bouts at UFC London. In the midst of a post-fight interview, Masvidal walked over to Edwards, who seemed to have said something to Masvidal, and within moments the two were exchanging punches. The sequence was caught on camera. Edwards suffered a cut on his face from the confrontation.
Edwards sent Masvidal a message via social media on Monday, telling “Gamebred” that things are about to get much worse for the American Top Team fighter.
“Jorge, fair play sneaking your shots in when you could, but now you’re f-cked,” Edwards wrote on Instagram. “If security wasn’t there you wouldn’t have made it back to the US. I’ll see you soon.”
Masvidal explained after the altercation that he wanted to be civil with Edwards and that he started swinging only because “Rocky” approached him with his hands up.
Masvidal knocked out former title challenger Darren Till in the UFC London main event. It arguably marked the biggest win of the veteran fighter’s career. Edwards defeated Gunnar Nelson via decision in the co-headliner.
With their wins, Masvidal picked up his first victory since January 2017 and Edwards improved his winning streak to seven in a row.
